Hi, I’m Debra Lord – a support worker, consultant, and supervisor with over six years of experience working alongside autistic people and their communities. I got my start at Autism New Zealand, where I ran support groups, organised social events, and did one-on-one outreach. That work really shaped my approach—building strong communication, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive support.
Since then, I’ve co-founded an autism-focused company, started a charity, and taken on a range of roles that keep me connected to people and their everyday lives. My approach is person-centered and practical, always grounded in respect, empowerment, and real-world compassion.
I have a BA in Psychology and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, but some of the work I’m most proud of is running a young adult social group for six years—a space where people can connect, grow in confidence, and just be themselves.
